This summer the Cavaliers are teaming up with ESMS to put on a 24 hour challenge and festival on Sunday for everyone to enjoy. We want as many people as possible to get involved so please get in touch and get a team together for the big run or come along on Sunday!
Here's the line up:
- A 24 hour challenge run for teams of up to 10 who will begin to run round the Ravelston site at 3.00pm on Saturday 16 Only one member of the team will run at any one time and it will be up to the team members to decide when and how often each team member runs. The last time we organised a similar event we had teams aged from 7 to 70 so this challenge is open to all. Teams will be able to camp overnight at Ravelston.
- On Sunday afternoon teams of families and friends will be able to join the 24 hour challenge teams for their own three hour event from 12.00 to 3.00 before accompanying Mr Gray on one final lap when everyone can show their appreciation and celebrate with him.
- Between 2.00 and 5.00 on Sunday children will also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities and challenges which will feature hockey, football and rugby. The rugby activities will include an afternoon of coaching and information clinics.
- Refreshments and children's attractions will be available throughout the afternoon.
All the money raised from the 24 hour relay and the afternoon of sport will be shared between Access to Excellence and the Steven Sims Foundation.
There is a very strong link between the two charities in the form of Mr Gray himself and the Chairman of Governors, Mr Mike Sims, who coincidentally is also retiring from his role as Chairman this year, having worked very closely with Mr Gray for many years. David Gray and Mike Sims were both instrumental in setting up Access to Excellence and in addition Mike is the father of our main man Steven Sims.
